City With A Heart Transformed

Heart of Doha, Phases 1B and 1C, Doha, Qatar – this momentous $5.5 billion, 84-acre development has transformed the downtown core of the city into a showcase of hotels, offices, residences, shops and cultural institutions; while still preserving the city’s most historic buildings and replacing others with a well-planned new urban district. It is located on a 35-hectare site inside inner Doha; which is the historic origin of Doha. It’s comprised of 226 buildings, reaching heights of up to 30 stories, and includes offices, schools, shops, and a theater. Phases 1B & 1C included 40 buildings consisting of: retail, luxury hotel, residential, school, museum, mosque and office buildings, totaling 2.4 million SF and an underground parking and service complex totaling 3.4 million SF.

FSC, Inc. was a huge part of transforming the City into what it is today by providing: Code / Life Safety Services in accordance with Qatar Civil Defense Fire Safety Standards and NFPA 5000 Building Code that included: formulation of the code approach; provided code guidance and feedback to the executive architect regarding the means of egress, internal fire separations, fire extinguishers and interpretation of Civil Defense Standards; developed and issued the life safety plans, and provided the fire strategy report and a fire engineering brief. Fire Protection Services included fire sprinkler design that included hydraulic calculations for all 40 buildings. MEP, Security and Telecom / Data Services for Superblock Q, a single five-story building made up of offices, a district cooling plant, future tram depot and driver’s accommodations. video click here
